European Commission (EC)/Directorate General (DG) Information Society. EBR-ON, European Business Register Open Network (an IST take-up measure). The European Business Register (EBR) is a network interconnecting the official Business Registers (Public Administrations) of 15 European countries. EBR makes accessible via internet public data on registered companies with multilingual support. With this project EBR targeted the supply of information via third-party distributors, enlarged its geographic coverage, and extended the set of its services. Marco Lorenzoni was member of the Project Management Team (previously, proposal manager), and coordinated the redefinition of rules and procedures for the achievement of this objective, including definition of Quality Control mechanisms. This implied need analysis and negotiations with public administrations of several European countries. Furthermore, he was in charge of the reporting to the European Commission. This included the definition of standards for the activity reports and the technical deliverables.
Years 2001 to 2003 (Contractor: EBR eeig -EUR)

EC/DG Information Society. European Business Register Trust and Internet Confidence Service (a Ten Telecom market validation project). With this project EBR validated on the market a service providing to visitors of a commercial website the access to official information on the owner of the website. This service was created in application of a specific EU Directive, aiming to inform consumers about the real identity of businesses, in order to prevent cases of abuse. Marco Lorenzoni was member of the Project Management Team, in charge with the definition of the service as to satisfy the legislative requirements. This implied feasibility studies and negotiation with the relevant Public Administrations in the Member Countries. Furthermore, Marco Lorenzoni was in charge of the reporting to the European Commission. This included the definition of standards for the activity reports and the technical deliverables. Finally, he was co-author of the Business Plan for the service.

EC/Phare programme. Bulgaria, National real time air quality information network.
With this project the Ministry of Environment of Bulgaria was supported in the definition of legal acts to comply with the European environmental legislation and regulations about air quality. Furthermore, a nation-wide air quality information network was developed and delivered. Marco Lorenzoni was advisor of the Project Manager, and in this role took responsibility for the coordination of the legal analysis and the formulation of recommendations. During the project, Marco Lorenzoni took part in the definition of the administrative procedures for the collection, processing, and distribution of data on air quality. Furthermore, Marco Lorenzoni supported the project management in the definition of the project reporting standards.
Year 2001-2002 (Contractor: consortium Project Automation -I- Sophilco -BG-)

EC/ (former) DG XIII. European Business Register II. Final Report and Exploitation Plan definition. June 1998. Previous assignment (1997): peer review of the user interfaces. With the first of these two activities Marco Lorenzoni helped the EBR in the definition of the exploitation plan of its service. This was done previous assessment of the procedures of the different national Administrations (at that time, 9) that were members of the network. Some of them were redefined, upon agreement of the different partner. Previously, Marco was peer-reviewer of the user interfaces of the version 1997 of EBR.
Years 1997 -1998 (Contractor: Infocamere - I)

EC/Tacis programme. Institutional, Legal and Information Technology requirements for the setting up of a Company Register in Moldova. With this project Marco Lorenzoni was selected as contractor and Project Coordinator for a Technical Assistance project to the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Justice, and the Chamber of Commerce of Moldova for the definition of the institutional and legal framework for a national system of business registration. The design of the needed ICT structure was included as well.
Years 1997 - 1998 (Contractor: Bridges)

EC/Phare programme. Bulgaria: Technical Assistance for the transformation of Bulgarian Customs Administration. With this project, where Marco Lorenzoni was coordinator, the Bulgarian Customs Administration was provided with assistance for its reform, in line with European best practices and laws.

EC/Phare programme. Slovak Republic: Institutional and Technical Specifications for the National Commercial Register. Marco was coordinator of this project, delivering assistance to the Slovak Ministry of Justice for the definition of the institutional frame for the operation of its commercial register, and its technical specifications.

EC/Phare. Study on the availability of Legal Business Registers in CEEC. Marco Lorenzoni was coordinator of a study on the existence of Business Registers in eleven Central and Eastern European Countries, including Romania. This study covered topics such as institutional frame, legislation, procedures, data availability.
