Ex-ante evaluations. They aim to assess whether a proposed project / programme / policy / legislation is feasible and its likely impact, based on specified sets of indicators and elements to be derived from analysis.
On-going evaluations (also known as results-based monitoring). They are intended to assess how projects / programmes / policies / legislation progress towards the achievement of the planned results. They include quality control.
Ex-post evaluations. They are conducted after the end of a programme / project, and aim to assess its relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact and sustainability. Further criteria could be added to address specific needs of the CLient.
Meta-evaluations. They are evaluations of evaluation studies; or more complex evaluations of monitoring and evaluation systems, to ascertain their appropriateness, effectiveness, and efficiency.
